As I stand here, about to face my imminent demise, I would like to reflect upon my short life on earth.  I was taken away from my mother shortly after I was born and never saw her again.  I will never know who my birth father is.  I am only 5 years young….but I am tired, weak and ready to die.   Continue reading

Despite consistently making quality food choices, limiting my portion sizes and exercising regularly, my weight does not seem to be responding as I have come to expect. Continue reading

Eating healthy can be complicated! There are so many different dietary guidelines and recommendations these days, some of which are contradictory to one another, that it’s easy to become overwhelmed and frustrated. I often wonder if we are missing the boat entirely when it comes to dieting for optimal health and longevity. In my opinion, too much time and energy is spent on various tangential imperatives, while ignoring the incredibly basic principle of eating real food.

Following are a few noteworthy examples of how I feel we may be disconnecting ourselves from what we are eating, in favor of controlling and manipulating nutrition to meet certain health-based criterion. Continue reading

The reason I stopped PORKING OUT

From time to time, I am asked why I don’t eat pork tenderloin. After all, from a nutritional standpoint, it is comparable to a skinless chicken breast. So if it’s a relatively low-calorie lean source of protein, why do I choose to avoid it?
